6th no hitter this season. Hitting is so behind the pitching in modern baseball that the no hitter does not excite me at all anymore

Re: MLB Thread
plus... ... ... the pitcher walked 2 ppl. A 1 hit shutout with 0 walks is more impressive but people wouldnt talk about it like this.

Re: MLB Thread
Also, I believe they ruled an error in the 9th with 1 out. Man on first (2nd walk) and the next batter hits it to the left of the 2B, he gets the lead out but the SS threw it away and ended up hitting the batter as he was just passing 1B. Could have been ruled a fielders choice and not ruled a hit. Didn't get to hear the game when I was watching it
Re: MLB Thread
not to mention Batters are hitting a historically low .238ish.. at this point if youre not throwing a no hitter you're an average pitcher.

Re: MLB Thread
Nolan Ryan career strikeout percentage was 25%. The MLB average strikeout percentage is 25% right now. Essentially pitchers are striking out guys on average at the same level as Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax. That is the number one reason baseball is fading and in trouble. There is no action.

Re: MLB Thread
stop letting Gerrit Cole and friends get away with doctored balls and maybe hitters will be able to make contact again.

Re: MLB Thread
MLB record for no hitters in a season is 7.
There has already been 6 this year. We are in May.

Re: MLB Thread
Guys nowadays don't like those unwritten rules. But yea, he ould take one right between the shoulder blades his next at bat if this was done 30 years ago. I love unwritten rules in baseball, but we don't see it much anymore
Re: MLB Thread
Unwritten rules are fucking stupid. Brilliant play by Javy but more of a dumb play by the 1B

Re: MLB Thread
For the batter
Do not bunt to break up a no-hitter[9][10]
Do not swing on a 3–0 count when your team is comfortably ahead[11]
Do not spend your time admiring a home run you hit[2]
Do not steal bases if your team is ahead by a significant amount[12]
Do not swing at the first pitch of the at-bat if the pitcher has allowed back-to-back home runs[13]
Do not work the count if your team is winning or losing by a significant amount[13]
Do not rub the spot where you were hit by a pitch[13]
Do not walk in front of a catcher or umpire when walking to the batter's box[13]
Do not stand on the dirt near home plate when the pitcher is warming up[13]
Do not assist a member of the opposing team[13]
Do not speak to a pitcher who is in the process of throwing a no-hitter[14]
For the pitcher
A pitcher who is removed from the game in the middle of an inning must stay in the dugout until the end of the inning[13]
A pitcher should not indicate displeasure if one of his fielders commits an error[13]
For the fans
Do not discuss a no-hitter that is currently in progress[15]
Just a smart baseball play, and stupid one at the same time from the 1st baseman. no reason to bean a guy for a stupid play from your own teammate.
Re: MLB Thread
No one gets beaned from that play. 1B player gets sent to minors for being an idiotGeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 12:28 amGuys nowadays don't like those unwritten rules.
