Re: College Basketball
Pleasantly surprised. My Cougs beat some of these teams and competed in others. Hoping they give the kids a reason to come back to the Pac-12. Gonzaga showing out helps the West Coast too

Re: College Basketball
Incredibly underwhelming hire by IU. No legitimate coach wants to come there though. IU is a football school now.
Re: College Basketball
Incredible tourney for the Pac 12 but I am not basing this on 1 tournament in one sport in one season. Pac 12 is the worst P5 conference in football and basketball and it has not been all that close. Larry Scott has been a fucking disaster so finally getting rid of him should help get it turned around. Still a great great run they have going on. Oregon St is not that good but they are playing incredibly well together and its fun to watch.

Re: College Basketball
Why do you say that? I'm torn on it. My friend's son is really excited about the hire and is already hoping to get his name in front of him. But he's a different breed of kid and isn't the level of talent that will make Indiana elite.LetsGoPeay wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:16 am Incredibly underwhelming hire by IU. To me, the hire is almost exactly what I'd expect from Indiana basketball. Hometown, alum, no bullshit, hardworker and he'll push kids to be better men. Unfortunately, as a fan, I can see how that's scary. When I was talking with my Malcolm about it, I told him it felt like Indiana would be stuck in a place where getting a 4 star is the best case, just because Woodson's style isn't likely to jive with a lot of 5 star kids (especially the ones that I've seen come through recently like E. Bates, J. Green, etc). But IU will always have the inside track on the local elite players, just because of the "dream" of playing there. I don't see a way that Woodson makes IU a dominant force, but I think the floor for IU is mid-tier Big10 at least. He'll get 4s and borderline 3-4s that will bust their ass for him and stick around 4 years.

Re: College Basketball
Just skimmed a few recruiting notes and I think IU will be ok in the immediate future. Logan Duncomb has already said he's happy with the hire and he's sticking with IU. I know IU is in the mix for Shawn Phillips and just based on what I know about him, I think IU has a legit shot. Phillips is monster in the paint. Phillips is in that realm where Armando Bacot was a few years ago and where Mike Foster is this year. It was a bit odd watching him play with Bates, because of Emoni's playstyle. I get why Phillips went to Ypsi, but I think it's been a mistake for him. He could be putting up consistent dominant performances in the right system. If IU pulls him, they'll be solidified inside for the next 4-5 years between these 2.

That weird, amazing, surreal moment when you see a national media personality talking about a former NDL member and it makes you remember just how old we are all getting

Re: College Basketball
As for the IU hire...a friend of mine seemed to have nailed the sentiment around here:
Most fans who love the hire are 40 or older
Most fans who hate the hire are younger
This is a coach with zero experience recruiting, dealing with NCAA rules, etc. Having Thad Motta to help him is a start, but imagine someone paying $10m out of pocket to fire Archie, and getting Mike Woodson as the replacement. I don't understand how you pony up that kind of cash, without having a guarantee of who the next coach will be.

Re: College Basketball
That kid from UCLA has a lot of hair. I'm always amazed at how athletes can play with that much hair. I'd be overheating in a heartbeat. Especially the NFL guys with a shit ton of hair, like a lot of the lineman with long hair and big ass beards

Re: College Basketball
I haven't watched college basketball in about 3-5 years.
I have watched this whole tourney.
That was one of the best games I have ever watched. Unreal.
