Re: Politics and stuff
I thought we established from a recent and even less recent presidents that this type of thing is acceptable and we need to forget about it

A little different when the accused recently slammed a Supreme Court Justice nominee over 1 highly questionable accusation.

Re: Politics and stuff
Since we all love politics. The one thing I truly don't understand is how Biden, CNN and MSNBC can flat out lie and nobody, besides Fox News, call them on their lies.
They hope that everyone is too dumb or lazy to actually read the new Georgia law regarding voting. Biden was on ESPN saying he supports moving the MLB all star game out of Georgia because of this new "Jim Crow" law. Time for pepe to actually educate themselves instead of being told what to think.
Here is a good synopsis of the bill:

And here is the actual bill:

The bill originally was going to eliminate Sunday voting, which was how a lot of black churches got people out to vote.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 9:52 am Since we all love politics. The bill requires that you have an ID to vote (which is fine), but does so while the state government continues to quietly close DMV branches in predominantly black areas, limits their open hours (which hurts those who work minimum wage jobs and can't get time off to go during the day), cuts the number of employees at said branches (which makes it take even longer to get ID), etc.
It's not just the bill. It's the intent behind the bill. The bill isn't to make elections have more integrity--there was NO, NONE, NADA election fraud in Georgia. They had their highest turnout in ages. So if you're not having election integrity issues, and you're not trying to suppress the minority vote...then why are you passing these new laws? It's amazing how the only states shoring up their laws are the Republican-controlled states where things are suddenly turning purple or slightly blue. Almost like there's a political reason behind it, and not an actual "election integrity" issue...

Re: Politics and stuff
If Chauvin doesn't get 1st degree murder (which he isn't charged with) the city is going to burn tonight. I'm not even sure the 2nd degree charge sticks, because that's saying he intentionally tried to kill the Floyd. I'm guessing manslaughter from watching the trial, but who knows with our judicial system.

Didn't know the 2nd degree charge was unintentional homicide.

Re: Politics and stuff
Couple of good breakdowns I read and understanding better than I did 10 minutes ago, seems like it makes sense to get found guilty of all 3, close to a no brainer even.
For all three charges, prosecutors had to prove that Chauvin caused Floyd's death and that his use of force was unreasonable. Prosecutors didn't have to prove Chauvin's restraint was the sole cause of Floyd's death, but only that his conduct was a "substantial causal factor." Chauvin is authorized to use force as a police officer, as long as that force is reasonable. To convict on any of these counts, jurors must find that Chauvin used a level of force that would be considered unreasonable to an objective officer in his position. Hindsight can't be a factor. The charges differ when it comes to Chauvin's state of mind - with second-degree murder requiring some level of intent - not an intent to kill but that Chauvin intended to apply unlawful force to Floyd - all the way down to manslaughter, which requires proof of culpable negligence.
Every state has their own definition. For this case:
2nd Degree Murder - caused death w/o intent during a felony
3rd Degree Murder - caused death w/o intent while "committing an act that is eminently dangerous to other persons while exhibiting a depraved mind, with reckless disregard for human life"
2nd Degree Manslaughter - Negligence where a person creates an unreasonable risk and consciously takes the chance of causing death or great bodily harm to someone else
Re: Politics and stuff
Numerous members of Chauvin's own police force, including former supervisors, testified in open court to his going above and beyond protocol. His refusal to administer medical attention when it became obvious something was wrong was the ultimate downfall for him. The 2nd degree murder conviction is fully justified. That wasn't manslaughter. It was murder. He had plenty of chances to stop doing something illegal. He's soon going to lean what it feels like to have someone kneeling on him on the ground.
The scary thing is, had a 17 year old girl not filmed the whole thing, he would have gotten away with it.
Hopefully the other officers involved get prison time as well.
