I am crafting my response right now. You guys should get on it, too. Just say ANYTHING. Trust me, anything to express your displeasure with the hijinks going on right now.July 27, 2011
Dear Friends,
President Obama asked Americans to contact members of Congress and ask them to reach a fair resolution of the looming government default.
He rightly noted that both political parties bear some responsibility for running up the federal debt – so it’s up to both to end this stalemate. Since the President's speech I've heard from thousands and thousands of folks who responded to his call. I also sensed growing support in Congress to avert a first-ever government default early next week. Thus I’m optimistic about quick passage of some $2.7 trillion in savings and spending cuts – cuts that wouldn’t hurt Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security.
Such a solution strikes me as a fair compromise – and, exactly the kind of thing I think we need right now.
If you want to pass along your thoughts, just click here to send me an email. Also, feel free to ask others to weigh in as well.
Thanks for your thoughts,

Voice Your Concern Over Debt Plan
Hey, look what I just got in my email from a Florida Senator. (I must have emailed him about something in the past)
Re: Voice Your Concern Over Debt Plan
My reply
Senator Nelson,
I am from New York. You must have gotten this email because I am pretty sure I was critical of something you did recently. Whatever the reason for you having my email, I will say that I appreciate the chance to voice our opinion because, while you are in Florida, your work has as much an effect on me as my two representatives here in New York.
That said, I am voting every single incumbent out of office for the next four elections. Every one, including my aunt who is on the Yonkers City Council and I have told her of my plan. You all need to go. Now. This matters to you because - as a New Yorker - I obviously have a large amount of family members (some visiting me right now) that are going to hear what I have to say about each and every one of you circus acts in Washington.
So, what do i think about the debt plans? I think it is a complete travesty that I am even reading about it. This is not something I should be weighing in on RIGHT NOW. I know the voters are stupid (and don't try and pretend that you don't think that, sir, we both know) but this is beyond flippant.
Each and every one of you ... voted against. And, just for full disclosure, I have sent a similar letter to all of my reps here in New York; I just felt I should let you know, too. If you clowns are going to serve yourself first and then ask for applause when we get table scraps, then I am going to be just as spiteful and indignant on election day.
Enjoy your pension, though! I'll continue to have to lie to my landlord about why I am late on rent.

Hope you didn't stay on the phone for more than 60 seconds. If you did, start running.trendon wrote:HE CALLED ME!

Re: Voice Your Concern Over Debt Plan
I will send him an email in a few days (remind me if you see me on the boards) and copy all of my congresspeople here in NY on it. It will basically say how this Senator Nelson took time out of his day for some stranger in NY who was critical of him while YOU FUCKS IN NEW YORK who I vote and pay for don't listen a goddamn word I say.
Re: Voice Your Concern Over Debt Plan
It was all very polite. He appreciated my concern "despite my tone" and I responded with how I appreciate him even taking time out of his day to contact someone who is "not only a number in the grand scheme of things, but a number in a different state."DRiccio21 wrote:trendon wrote:HE CALLED ME!![]()

Actually, check that, this kind of thing deserves a bunch of certified letters from the USPS. Make sure they read them. I will work on it tonight and mail them out when I get paid on Friday; I can't even afford postage right now.

Re: Voice Your Concern Over Debt Plan
Just another reason why NDL:F rules, our senators.
Next time I'd ask for a tour of his office and possibly a trip to our state or something.
Ask for stuff, can't hurt

Nothing good can come from politicians actually taking Trendon seriously.
