Eeeeeeeexactly. I've never once heard of someone charging a "fee" to host a tourney pool. I am still waiting to hear the explanation on this one.

Every good-sized pool i've ever been in has a tip for the guy running it or administrative fees involved with promoting it and getting everyone in it. It's a courtesy thing for the guy sticking his neck out there/the work it is to get a lot of people in a bracket pool because until you've run one you wouldn't know how difficult it is getting a large number of people in it.

The 10% is a guarantee that you will be paid so if I don't get paid by someone then I'm on the hook for it.

Tim, if that's not in jest, you could do 3 brackets for $10 each.

TWENTY FIRST ANNUAL PRE-NCAA CONTEST RULES
To play in this year's contest, all you have to do is:

Choose the 31 Conference Champions
(Tournament champs, if applicable) 5 points for each correct choice
3 points for each choice selected at-large
Choose the 34 At-Large teams 3 points for each correct choice
Choose the Final 8 10 points for each correct choice
Choose the Final 4 20 points for each correct choice
Choose the National Champion 40 points if you're right
Choose a Wild Card team, that is NOT
in your Final 8, Final 4, or Champion
and is NOT in the AP Top 25
displayed on the appropriate page in the web site 1 point if your Wild Card makes the Final 32
5 additional points if your Wild Card makes the Final 16
20 additional points if your Wild Card makes the Final 8
30 additional points if your Wild Card makes the Final 4
75 additional points if your Wild Card is National Champion

ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2010

There is no cost to enter the contest, but if you wish to receive Newsletters and be eligible for prizes, there is a $ 10 fee, which must be RECEIVED by Friday, March 5, 2010. Any entrants who have not paid in full by March 5 will NOT be eligible for prizes.

PRIZES:
Person with the most Conference Champion plus At-Large points wins $100
Remainder of prize pool (less $75 deduction for Administrative costs) will be distributed as follows:

* 1st Place - 60%
* 2nd Place - 30%
* 3rd Place - 10%

Ties will split the total (e.g., if two players tie for second, each will get 20%).

Fees may be handed personally to one of the Commissioners, or mailed to:

The example you gave involved some work on that guys part to score the conference championships and at large teams, etc... He couldn't just have some website do it. I could see that, but for you sweating and working hard trying to make a post on here, and create a league on espn, you get 10%? You claim that if people don't pay then your on the hook. Require the money before you give out the password for the league. If they don't pay, then they aren't in. Do I get 5% of the cut for coming up with that idea?

hell, when i've run leagues or contests (college fantasy football, bowl challenge, etc), I go ahead and eat the surcharge that paypal takes out of some of the entires if some people don't submit them right, and I do a hell of alot of work with the draft for the college league. To take admin charges for a league when cbs does all the work seems strange.
