My Kid Closing it Out

Post by doc »

My son (Max) came into the game last week with bases loaded 2 outs top of the 6th. Tie game. They ended up winning in the bottom half. His team moves on plays tonight in semi finals.

Funny how they grow. I remember those Sat am scrims. He ran the show and I had way too many pauses.

That worked! Good job!

Was the kid on deck wearing his catching pads on his right leg? That was odd.

League rule that one shin guard must stay on while catcher is on deck with 2 outs to help with dress time.

My son's team usually put in a courtesy runner if our catcher was on base with 2 outs to speed up the game. Plus our catcher was really slow.

It's a great rule for speeding up the process... it's just annoying as hell to keep track of all of the little stuff like that when the real concern is playing the game.

I agree. Seriously, 1 guard, so the extra 30 seconds that you save is worth the hassle?

But why would you only have 1 on with 2 outs? Even in high school our catchers keep both on with two outs and then quickly take them off if they get up.
