2068 Beef Outlook

2068 Outlook

Departed from last year:
SP Ramiro Nieto
SP Gonzalo Villa

Starting Pitching (Last years Record/ERA/WHIP)

SP Juan Herrera (2-3/5.92/1.39)
Spoiler!
Juan Herrera is getting his first shot at completing the year with the big club. We are hoping he can at least keep his record and stats in the respectable range. If he is able to do that the wins will come.
SP Cesar Sanchez (19-7/3.71/1.16)
Spoiler!
Sanchez was brought over in a trade with Washington. We needed a left handed starter and we were able to obtain him. If he can maintain his numbers from last year he could be in the running for some Cy Young chatter with 20+ wins.
SP John Oliver (0-2/13.50/2.61)
Spoiler!
Oliver was given a nod in September to see where he was at and to give him some confidence going into his rookie year. We may have done the opposite and may have hurt his confidence. So far, he is having a respectable spring but has room to grow. If he develops quickly he could be the best rookie pitcher this year.
SP Brant Byrne (14-9/4.69/1.33)
Spoiler!
Byrne is just another run of the mill starter. Probably should be on a crappier team like Seattle but here he is trying his little digital butt off for the Beef.
SP Jesus Gueramo (10.6/4.45/1.25)
Spoiler!
Another run of the mill starter that needs to improve for the Beef to get over the hump.
SP Bruce Burke (15-9/3.56/1.21)
Spoiler!
Workhorse for the team last season. Need him to do the same and at a minimum maintain the numbers he had from last year.
Once again we will have the quick hook for our starters as this still is our weakness as a Beef team.

Batting Order (Last years stats)

2B Alfonso Romero (.250/.285/.321)
Spoiler!
Absolute blazer on the base paths, had 51 stolen bases last year. But as you can see from his stats, he isn't an offensive threat at all. He won the gold glove at 2B last season and that is why he has been given the nod. He will split time with Pedro Roman to keep him fresh
SS Bryan Yang (.304/.404/.515)
Spoiler!
Still one of the best Short Stops in the game. Coming off a 32 HR season, we can expect the same type of production.
LF Edward Stevens (.309/.404/.568)
Spoiler!
Reigning Rookie of the Year looks to show his freshman outing was not a fluke. Last year he hit 38 HR's and drove in 101 RBI's while putting up a 7.0 WAR. He puts up these kind of offensive numbers while still playing good defense in LF.
RF Lewis Archer (.270/.342/.491)
Spoiler!
Archer will bat cleanup against right handed pitchers as he absolutely crushes them. Of his 30 HR's he hit 24 off of right handed pitchers in 380 at bats. As well as he is at the plate he plays near gold glove level defense in RF.
CF Claudio Marquis (.310/.359/.489)
Spoiler!
Still one of the top 10 CF'ers in the game and continues to get better. We can easily pencil in 20+ doubles, 5+ triples, 20+ HR's while hitting .300+ and adding 4 WAR. He may end up leading off if Romero starts to struggle.
1B Sergio Dominguez (.253/.299/.490)
Spoiler!
Go ahead and pencil him in for top 5 in HR's in the NL. Guy just mashes the ball. This is all we ask of him as he plays okay defense but he is on the roster due to his 40+ HR potential.
3B Gordon Pantoja (.316/.371/.478)
Spoiler!
Last season started out extremely slow, to the tune of a .200 batting average the first 5 weeks of the season. Not a great defender but needs to be on the field due to his offensive ability.
DH Anastasio Garcia (.273/.326/.571)
Spoiler!
Another guy you can pencil in 40+ HR's.
C Joe Hudson (.261/.339/.386)
Spoiler!
This should be his good year since he likes to take every other year off. If that trend continues we can expect something like a .280/.380/.480 slash. Definitely numbers anyone would love from the 9 hole.
This is the exact same lineup last year that was top 5 in all of MLB. We don't see anything being different this year.

The last 4 seasons we have seen the Beef win 87, 85, 86 and 93 wins. This may be the year they can do a little more than just win a wild card series. It'll take close to 100 wins to win the NL Central and dethrone Alabama. I just don't think the Beef have that many wins in them this year. We do improve from last season but still do not break the triple digit win mark.

Projected record: 95-67 and finish 2nd in the NL Central and the #1 wild card team.

Outside of thinking Sanchez could be in the Cy Young race, everything looks pretty reasonable. I look forward to the daily Beef updates :)

April May updates will be awesome

And I only said he could be in the running because his win total can be pushed in the 22-24 range

Good looking team.
I don't feel to confident about my pitching right now. My pitchers are injury prone and seemed to have dipped due to last years injuries. It should be competitive. Good luck.
