Solid bats. Omaha-esque pitching staff.

But the fans are loving it!

Spoiler!
PITCHING

Ryan Wolf - The youngster needs to take the next step and show us he's the anchor for years to come. Realistically though no one currently on the team has any shot of taking it from him.
Andrew Hall - Meh. He had a winning record last season...
Juan Vazquez - Fair to middlin' at best
Michael White - Well, at least he's a leader
Arturo Orozco/Chien-Shih Liao/Edgardo Ogando - The two youngsters probably need to spend one more season in AAA but we're desperate for arms, Ogando will fill this if they prove completely useless.

The pen is definitely better than the starting rotation overall. Kind of hard to be excited about relievers though...

Joe Smith - Lefty finished with a 1.73 ERA last season.
Harry Dixon - Lefty who finished the season strong
Roger Daniels - Solid reliever/set up man but we were really hoping that 2nd pitch would develop more.
Steve Reed - A very good closer. Should be able to finish out games for us if we can keep the score close late.

BATS

2B Larry Young - Has played good but not great ball. Hoping this is the year it all comes together and the bat meets and/or exceeds expectations.
1B Ronald Davies - The old man is still chugging along. Solid defense at first and a very solid bat.
DH/LF James Powers - Can launch the ball and now with other bats able to protect him he should be able to truly unleash his power.
RF Mark Robinson - Added this off season. Brings so much needed defense and has solid but not spectacular bat abilities.
3B Curt Warner - Crossing our fingers he can be solid defensively at third. If not, his bat will make up for it.
LF Adam Lack - Rule 5 pick up that we believe can shine for us. He won't be a superstar but still a solid contributor.
SS Banks Young - We needed a shortstop, he needed a team. If he bats in the high .200's we'll be happy.
C Duane Cook - Off season addition. Lackluster defense, but a better bat than our defensive guy. They'll be switching out a lot.
CF Xian Pan - Outstanding defense. Bat has caught up to his potential yet. Please do that this season....

The bats should be exciting this season, especially against lefties. We'll need them to carry the team though as our pitching will not be able to get it done on their own. We did get back to a winning record last season after four long years of sub .500 ball. Most of that pitching staff is still in place and the bats have been upgraded with five new guys that should be better than last years guys. Waiting in the minors are several key pieces that should be ready in the next season or two. 3B Steve Hall and SP Dave Marks should see some action during the September call ups and be ready to make an impact next season. SP James Johnston is at least two seasons out and with any luck SP Duane Atkins will be right there with him.

I think we're still a season out from the playoffs but will find ourselves in the hunt throughout the year.

Prediction: 88-74

Man, this team is about to be really damn good. Good job with some all-star vets and some real stud prospects coming up
