Boston in a Hot Minute...
About 9 beers in, just got out of the water slide bounce house thingy, and wrapping up my 7 year olds birthday party which was a blast.
What better time to write up a season outlook?!
Boston has gone 162-162 the last 2 seasons...something has got to give!
Boston was loaded with cash and high optimism this offseason and it resulted in a fun team to construct below:
Lineup
Angelo Alonzo-3B-13th season in the MLB and steady as they come with speed and defense
Jose Medina-SS-HIdden gem that has been stuck in NY/IND and consistently put up great numbers
Millard Jacobs-LF-Came over in the RobRod deal and is looking to blossom as a stud OF in this lineup
Franciso Lugo-DH-Just signed a 9 year deal and looking to hit his full potential in his prime this season
Ronald Davies-2B-late offseason signing but his name speaks for itself, top 10 hitter in the league
Stanley Maxwell-RF-consistent LH bat and fantastic glove in the corner
Roberto Ramirez-C-Arguably the best C in the league and fantastic hitter
Orlando Martinez-1B-Flexible guy that could win a gold glove at 1B and head to 3B in a pinch
Robert Lopez-CF-Grizzled veteran captain holding the CF spot until the Boston CF stud prospects are set
Prediction: Top 5 offense in the league in runs scored
Pitching staff:
Ron O'Dineer-3/4 guy on most teams but after the RobRod trade he is our #1
Ken Howard-Only 25 we are hoping this is the breakout season we expect
Eric Long-Another piece of the RobRod trade who will be a #1 in the future but settles into the 3 slot
Chris Watkins-Came over in the Todd trade last year and with the makeup of a top flight starter but 24yo
Steve Lee-Have been waiting too long for him to turn the corner so hoping this is the year
Bullpen:
Jose Rivera-CL-Stud closer expected to close out games in Boston for the next decade
Maximo Gonzalez-Crafty veteran who has 1.25 pitches but make its work
Pete Salgado-Couldnt crack the rotation so we expect big innings in the bullpen from him
Bri Bry-swan song and farewell tour in front of the Boston faithful that brought so many magical years
Albert Marquez-signed for nothing but the fans love for him
Shintaro Tenno-hoped for an eventual rotation spot but doesnt seem to have it
Juan Ibanez-has put together 2 very good seasons in Boston and will hold down the middle innings
Prediction: bottom quarter of the league in runs allowed, tons of potential in the next year or 2 but will struggle this year
With so many young stars waiting to blossom biding their time in the minors and some getting their shot this season, Boston will struggle with the very deep AL and hope to stick around for an outside shot at a wild card bid. Doesnt look possible with so many good teams that got better in the AL but with tons of cash in the bank, a very good system that is growing, and a rabid fan base a consistent playoff run should be 1-2 years away.
Prediction: 85-77

Those Minutemen tho, focus!
Re: Boston in a Hot Minute...
Love the lineup, I’d say top 3 in the AL. Pitching will be the issue once again. Good luck out there Millard and Long!!!!!

Re: Boston in a Hot Minute...
Agreed about the pitching.
Hoping these 23-25yo SP hit that potential soon and out newfound dedication to a top flight defense should help hopefully.
