Your 2063 Minutemen
Haven't done one of these in a while and it goes in line that the Minutemen haven't been worthy of much to talk about in recent years. After a 4 year rebuild that felt like 20, the ship is finally turning the corner back to the winning Boston ways.
Finances are green, great young core to build on, and Marino is home where he belongs. There is still work left to be done but hoping to be back in the postseason in 2064 as the goal.
Rotation:
Roberto Rodriguez
Ron O'Dineer
Pete Salgado
Steve Lee
Ken Howard
Pros: Young and great potential but still a lot of growing up to do. Rob Rod is the ace and old man veteran but still only 25. Nice depth and if we can finally put some kind of defense behind them we should see a big improvement from the dumpster fire of the staff of the last 4 years. Lee and Howard have the makings as great 2/3 guys behind Rob Rod but have a ways to go in their growth.
Cons: 3 out of the 5 aren't close to their potentials still and will have some growing pains along the way as scouting reports dictate growth through the season.
Bullpen:
3 headed closer
Jose Rivera
Maximo Gonzales
Juan Ibanez
Sergio Miranda
Shintaro Tenno
Bill Mendoza
Bryant Jiminez
Ron Gardner
Jimmy Carter
Pros: Very deep, talented bullpen with a great mix of arms and styles. Jose Rivera is the closer of the future but Maximo and Ibanez will help the youngin' grow into the role with a committee approach to start the season. Also some solid depth to provide if/when a rotation arm goes down with some starters that have taken bullpen roles with the youth movement into the rotation.
Cons: No true dominant arm...yet. A bunch of good to average arms that can work with big leads and give innings but no true dominant arm to come lock down an inning as of yet. Rivera looks to be that guy but this is his first year in the bigs and will take some time.
Lineup:
Gabriel Parkinson-CF
Jose Vargo-3B
Jorge Marino-DH
Richard Todd-SS
Conrad Harris-LF
Francisco Lugo-RF
Orlando Martinez-1B
Jacob McKay/Roberto Ramirez-C
Orlando Rodriguez-2B
Pros: Huge bats in the lineup that was near the top in many offensive categories last year and now Marino is back home anchoring the lineup. I expect huge numbers again from this potent offense but we also sprinkled in the youth movement with Parkinsonadding key defensive needs to help the staff. Lugo is turning into one of the best young hitters in the league and former ROY Conrad Harris continues to shine with big pop and power numbers as he takes that leap to the next level. In now signing Marino to his extension and Todd coming home our LU looks niiiiiiiiice.
Cons: Still missing some foundational pieces at 2B/3B for the future and will be a priority as the cash comes in and draft classes rotate out. Tons of power but also tons of Ks on the horizon for this lineup and no speed at all could be problems eventually.
With the AL Beast being the deepest division in baseball, Boston hopes to make marginal strides this year towards that next step in the rebuild. Maybe adding a piece here or there could sneak us in the postseason this year but that is unlikely. Improving from 56 wins, to 71, to 80 last season the goal is to keep improving while raking in the revenue sharing at this time.
Predicted Record: 93-69

Good looking young squad. I think 2064 will be the year Boston gets back to playoffs, just in time to face the Greeks. I could see this team making the playoffs this year if some things fall in place. I'll go 87 wins and count on the arms developing quickly

Looking forward to renewing the rivalry.
Well not much of a rivalry but you know what I mean.

Oh, good luck Corey!
Re: Your 2063 Minutemen
Absolutely. Lineup will be one of the best in the league this season. 2064 will see Nonaka, Lugo, and Long come up and I will be out of debt.Wasted Memory wrote:wdoupis wrote: just in time to face the Greeks.

Re: Your 2063 Minutemen
- a good Minutemen is good for the league.
- i hate seeing Marino back in the division
- the poor pitching staffs of the AL East are so fucked with amount of bats in the division (even Youngstown has some mashers)
- Corey is the anti-Spitter GM with the amount of turnover in his roster over the years... i wish we had totals on the amount of trades he's made
- i really wish you sucked a couple more seasons so i could take advantage of my squad without having another good team in our division... but fuck it, i'll take the challenge (i've literally had this challenge every year for the entirety of this league back to Trendon days of this division being elite)
- fuck Marino, fuck fuck

Re: Your 2063 Minutemen
I don’t think I’m much better, I think I already had best team in the division

Re: Your 2063 Minutemen
Adding Marino to the same exact team basically and winning 5 more games should be attainable.
