2061 Draft Grades, According To My Drugged Out Scout
Since my scout basically hates every prospect, I think this might be a bit of fun. I'll grade picks, but solely off of what my scout thinks of them. No OSA cross-referencing. No stat reading. Purely off my scout's potential/scouting report of them.
Re: 2061 Draft Grades, According To My Drugged Out Scout
Pick #1: Denver: SS Larry Young
According to Mr. Gunter, Young is a decent potential shortstop. he's got above average power, mediocre to average defense (definitely a 2B according to him), a bit below average contact rate, and a pretty mediocre eye. He does rave about his speed, though. He calls him a reliable player, but nothing more than an average starter.

Pick #2: Los Angeles: SP Leroy Whewell
First off, wtf is a Whewell? Terrible name. But onto Mr. Gunter's thoughts: Whewell is a fantastic SP spec. He has stuff that will make even the best batters look like idiots at times. His control is above average but not outstanding, while his movement is good but not great. He throws 5 pitches, one being a changeup that should be among the best in the league. Decent at holding runners, and can pitch deep into ball games. He projects all 5 pitches to be plus pitches. This guy must be great is Mr. Gunter loves him.

Pick #3: Houston: 2B Joe Murray
Murray, according to Mr. Gunter, is a plus contact/power bat combo who doesn't strike out much at all and has the ability to draw walks. But, Murray is a very mediocre defender, who is more suited to 3B. His range is below average, as is his ability to turn the double play and not make errors. He does have a good arm, however. He also doesn't look to be a guy who will hit many doubles or triples either, due to his lack of speed and line drive power into the gaps.

Pick #4: Lincoln: SP Lou Lewis
First: This kid had parents who hate him to name him that, because you know Lou is probably short for Louis. But now, onto the druggie's thoughts: Mr. Gunter says Lou Lewis sucks. While he has plenty of ammo to strike someone out with, and a bit above average control, apparently his pitches go dead straight. They have no movement at all. He also somehow grades him out as a reliever with no hope of starting even though he has 3 plus pitches and a 4th good pitch, and has a bit above average stamina.
I don't get this guy at all. And I don't get why I haven't fired him yet.

Oh man, I love this. Favorite line so far.... Mr. Gunter says Lou Lewis sucks
Re: 2061 Draft Grades, According To My Drugged Out Scout
Pick #5: Boston: SP Mike Reynolds
Sir Garth thinks Mike Reynolds is a bit below average pitcher. He has him with a 3 pitch arsenal, none of which are an out pitch, and his changeup is a bit below average. But somehow he's a starting potential pitcher while Lewis is not. Yep. I don't get it. Also, Reynolds has average stuff to go with slightly above average movement and control.
Based off the college production, Reynolds looks far better, but apparently Mr. Gunter thinks he's close to plateauing already.

Pick #6: Chicago: SP Mike Lauder
So, just to preface this: I am looking at each person in order. I hadn't looked at any of these picks beforehand to give me info for previous picks.
According to Mr. Gunter, Lauder is a SP with good but not great stuff, above average movement, and crap control. He also has a great fastball, an above average slider, a bad curveball, and a changeup that probably shouldn't even be thrown in BP, let alone a game.
But, with that 2.5 pitch arsenal and no control, HE'S STILL MORE OF A STARTER THAN LOU LEWIS WITH HIS GOOD 4 PITCH REPERTOIRE. I don't know. All I know is, Gunter says Lauder is good enough to be a #5 SP but nothing better.

Had to go check out his scout. An abilities guy.... But good ratings.
Re: 2061 Draft Grades, According To My Drugged Out Scout
Pick #7: Rhode Island: RF Howard Palmer
According to Sir Garth, Palmer is a career minor leaguer. Below average power, contact, eye, and baserunning ability. Average defender, and decent at not striking out.
The one redeeming quality? He went to a good college at least.

Re: 2061 Draft Grades, According To My Drugged Out Scout
Pick #8: Edmonton: SS Steve Anderson
Mr. Gunter told me that Anderson is a phenomenal prospect. Above average contact, great gap power, above average power, very good at drawing walks, but does stirke out occasionally. He also says that Anderson is one of the best defenders in the draft. He only has above average range, but he is among the best in the league already when it comes to arm strength, turning the double play, and not making errors.
So, in reality, Anderson probably sucks and can't do anything.

Pick #9: Youngstown: RF John Hamilton
Sir Garth took one look at John Hamilton and said he never needs to look at him again. He can't play defense, he can't hit for power, and he can't get on base well unless he hits a single or double, which isn't common since he's slow.
Dude hit 25 homers last year in college and has 19 right now, but he has no power. Okay, dude.

I gotta go to sleep but I swear to god if I wake up and you guys do not reward Roggie and Mr. Gunter for this great work with tons of posts we are going down to 3 sims a week.

Re: 2061 Draft Grades, According To My Drugged Out Scout
Pick #10: Cincinnati: SS John Arrington
Note: Interesting, twice in the top 10 we had back to back picks with matching first names.
Arrington is a bit of a weird one. Garth thinks he should make solid contact on the ball, but he has below average power, eye, and gap power, plus he will strike out a ton. He has him graded as a great defender, but his weakness is that he lacks concentration and makes a lot of unnecessary mistakes.
Him and OSA do not see eye to eye here.

He gave up after pick 10. lol
Sad or scary thing is my scout has 4 guys he likes that are still on my pick list for my first pick coming up in round 3.

Scouts will be remembered as the shittiest part of '19.
I have no faith they didn't make it worse in '20.
Funny he asks "what's a Whe-well" but wtf is a Roggie? An e-challenged Reggie?
