2060 Hustle Preview

Post by The_Niddler »

Starters
#1 SP - Jose Sandoval - Had a 2.38 ERA in 238 innings pitched last season. He has become what we expected and we hope to get a few seasons of this type of production out of him.
#2 SP - Jason Sousa - 3.16 ERA in 208 IP. At 24 years old, he has a bright future ahead.
#3 SP - John Davis - 2.85 ERA in 202 IP.
#4 SP - Bill Woodward - He is an average SP.
#5 SP - Yi-da Ge - Was in our starting rotation last year and pitched a 3.53 ERA in 219 IP. He did better than we expected and will stay in our starting rotation, unless Valdez comes back from injury and pitches out of his mind.
#6 SP - Phillip Jenkins - He was a pretty good SP in 2058 with a 3.40 ERA but then dropped to a 4.80 ERA in 2059 and then was injured. He comes to us from Sheltown. He is injured now, but should be ready in April. We are not sure if he will make opening day, but should be close. If he is healthy, he will most likely be in the #5 spot and Ge would go to a SU or LR role.

Bullpen
CL - Hector Lopez - 2.17 ERA last season. He was in the SU role last season and will be our CL this season.
SU - Elvis Martin - A young, 24 years old, very good MR. 3.89 and 3.76 ERAs the last 2 seasons. We hope he continues to get better every season.
SU - Still in need of 1 more Pitcher.
MR - Francisco Martinez - Decent MR with a 3.84 ERA last season.
MR - Julio Valdez - Made his SP debut in 2056 but only pitched 23 innings. In 2057 he only pitched 37 innings. He will most likely end up in a LR/MR role and Yi-da Ge will be put in the starting rotation due to this guy not staying healthy.
LR - Ge, Woodward or Jenkins to fill this spot.

Fielders
DH - Javier Cintron - He has been our DH for about 3 seasons now. He has been playing ok, but we hope he steps his game up this coming season.
C - Steve Hunter - Came to us from Cookeville a few seasons ago and has filled this role nicely for us.
C - Michael Adams - Your below average catcher who will fill in for us as needed.
1B - Hsi-churen Jia - Signed as a free agent and has played well for us over the past couple of seasons.
2B - Curt Warner - Was called up to our ML team late last year to get his feet wet as he played in only 14 games. We are hoping in his first full season, he can make an impact and help us get to the post season.
3B - Jose Rodriguez - Came to us from OCD back in 2056 and has done well for us so far. We hope he continues to contribute.
SS - Ryan Kline - Now entering his 3rd season on our ML squad, we are expecting big things from this young man. The last 2 seasons, he has hit .277 and hit 26 HRs and 80 RBIs for us last season. He has been fantastic on Defense for us at SS and will continue to be the starter at this position.
IF Util - Terry Galvan - He was our starting 2B the last couple of seasons and was our IF utility for a couple seasons before that. He will lose his starting 2B role to the highly anticipated youngen, Curt Warner.

LF - Miguel Medina - 24 years old. He will make the move to LF from 1B last season. He did very well for us at 1B, but we needed to find a way to keep Jia and Medina in the lineup and we will see how this experiment works for us.
CF - Mike Wright - He has been and continues to be tremendous on defense, +18.7 ZR at CF and he has exceeded our expectations with hitting with a .282 avg last season.
RF - Sam Jenkins - He will step into the starting role as Winebrenner has been shipped to Philly.
If we find a replacement in RF, Jenkins will go back to the OF Utility player he has been the past couple seasons for us.
OF Util -Keith McKenzie - He will fill in as a utility OFer for us until we find a replacement. He is listed as an infielder but he does ok for us in a pinch.

Good luck to my AL Central compadres!

Was just thinking that after seeing the writeup . I'm guessing just a front line arm though, but still the top 3 are no slouches. Will be fun to track Kline/Warner for years to come
